Children Reaching Children
Children Reaching Children rests on a simple observation: a child who has trusted Christ already has something no adult worker can be given — a place among other children, and friendships built before anyone thought about ministry. This program equips them to use it.
Who it is for
Children and young people ages 8 to 15 who know the Lord and want to be able to explain the Gospel to a friend. No prior training is assumed, and no child is asked to do anything they have not been prepared for.
The Go and Tell training
The training program is interactive rather than a lecture. Children learn the Gospel through color-based teaching tools they can use themselves, so they are not memorizing a script but working with something they understand and can hold. The training combines:
- Group instruction, where the Gospel truths are taught
- Small groups, for working through them at a manageable size
- Partner practice, so each child actually says the words out loud before they need them
- Witnessing materials to take home and use
Why train children to reach children
Children talk to other children with a directness adults lose somewhere along the way. They are already in the classrooms, on the teams, and in the neighborhoods we are trying to reach, and a friend’s question carries differently than a stranger’s invitation. Training a child to share the Gospel also settles it more firmly in that child — explaining something is how anyone comes to know it well.
For parents and churches
This is a natural next step for a child who has come up through a Good News Club and is ready to move from hearing the Gospel to sharing it. Churches can host a training for their own children, and often for the children of nearby churches at the same time.
