Serve
Child Evangelism Fellowship is the world’s largest evangelistic outreach to children, but to reach even more children with the Gospel, we need more workers. That is as true in Iowa as it is anywhere else — there are counties in this state where no child has ever been invited to a club.
There are many ways you can serve with CEF of Iowa. You do not need a ministry degree or a stage presence; we provide the training, the lessons, and the materials, and you always serve alongside a team.
Teach a club
Lead a Good News Club in a school, home, or community center during the school year, a 5-Day Club in a backyard or park over the summer, or a Party Club hosted by a family or church. You will be trained to teach a Bible lesson, share the Gospel clearly with a child, and lead songs, games, and Scripture memory.
Time commitment: about an hour a week during the school year for a Good News Club; one week for a 5-Day Club.
Help behind the scenes
Not every volunteer stands up front, and no club runs without the people who make it possible. Clubs need helpers for:
- Snacks, games, and check-in
- Transportation and set-up
- Praying for the club, its teachers, and its children by name
The state office also needs hands for mailings, banquets, and county fair booths.
Short-term summer ministry
Christian Youth In Action (CYIA) equips teens and young adults to teach children the Gospel. Spend part of a summer in training, then put it to work leading 5-Day Clubs across Iowa. It is one of the best ways we know to spend a summer, and many of our current workers started there.
Career missionary service
CEF has career missionary opportunities in Iowa and around the world. Missionaries are fully trained, supported, and equipped to serve full-time in the world’s largest evangelistic children’s ministry. If you sense God calling you to this work vocationally, we would like to talk with you.
Board and committee leadership
Faithful believers with vision and godly character lead the CEF work in their local areas by serving on chapter committees and the state board. If you have professional, financial, or organizational experience to offer, this is a way to serve that multiplies every other volunteer’s work.
What happens next
- Reach out. Tell us where you live and what you are drawn to. We will connect you with the chapter nearest you.
- Get screened. Every worker completes an application, references, and a background check. Children’s safety comes first, always.
- Get trained. Attend a Teacher Training Class or a hands-on workshop.
- Start serving. Join an existing club as a helper, or launch a new one with a team. You are never sent out alone.
